SUSTAINABILITY AND AGROECOLOGY

Know more

What is it?

Agroecology is a way of being, living and feeling the world, where we see ourselves as beings linked to nature and indivisible from everything else. There is no possibility to choose to separate from other living beings and our environment. We practice advanced techniques of organic food production and raise our animals taking into account that they are endowed with spirit and feeling. We think of our daily lives always observing the cycles of nature and taking in the highest consideration that the environment has priority over our lives.

Environmental education

We are already consolidated as a reference in environmental education in our region and we constantly receive groups of schools and colleges that want to understand a little more about this different way of dealing with our environment. We have a true and even radical love for nature, and we take care of every detail in our space in such a unique way that teachers and institutions make a point of bringing their students to contaminate their minds with this deep love for nature. We have an agroecological trail of approximately two hours, passing through the main points of the Pousada, where we explain how we use agroecological techniques of Permaculture and Syntropic agriculture in each corner of the Pousada incorporating each lesson that nature brings us as the only way to live well and in harmony with the environment. Once or twice a year, we bring professionals from the agroecological area to teach more in-depth courses on the topics, so that people interested in adapting their spaces to the philosophy of natural life can receive advanced knowledge that allows them to implement these ideas in their properties.

Permaculture

"The word Permaculture does not exist in the dictionary. It comes from the union of the words agriculture and permanent culture. Permaculture is an applied, interdisciplinary design system to create sustainable human communities, cultivated landscapes and other systems that contribute to this process. Its methodology is based on ecological principles, to produce an integrated system of plants, animals, water, buildings and natural energy. Permaculture is a system of caring for Planet Earth, which has its roots in a philosophy of abundance. ” (João Rockett, IPEP, Brazil).
